Today, the import file will go through the same validation/content check regardless of whether you are going to publish or unpublish articles. This means that even if you are going to unpublish articles, these need to have as accurate information as if they were to be published. This is because we currently do not have support for saving uncompleted articles in the system.
Tips for dealing with this: Only export the articles you want as published and you can then choose the option to unpublish all articles that are not in the file when you import the articles (then you avoid this error message/problem completely). Alternatively, export only the articles that you want to unpublish to make it easier to manage and adjust based on any error messages at the time of import.
